Bains is always great service! They are honest, hard working, and accommodating. Have never felt better using a mechanic and will always highly recommend them to others. We bring all of our vehicles there and so does our extended family.

Deb and I have been using Bains Service Center for years, Jim makes you feel at home when car issues arise. The latest repairs on our Ram pickup started with one check engine lite and then most of the dash warnings came on. There were sensors gone, hinden broken wiring, plastic connectors burnt up it was unbelievable. Bought this vehicle from a place in South Glens Falls across from "Mr Bills" and of course after the fact our friends and neighbors are asking. "Oh you didn't buy a car from them did you?" Yes we did and Jim Bain and his gang at Bain's Auto Service Center really did a fantastic job on the repair. Thank you Jim for taking care of us.

Your quick response to my battery failure was reassuring. When we then drove to your station, you immediately replaced our battery and invited us to sit inside where it was cooler. The mechanic was responsive and pleasant from the AAA call to replacement of the battery. It was a great experience.

Fantastic place, we love them so much. In emergencies they have always been able to help us as soon as they possibly can and fit us in quickly. On more standard visits with them, the whole staff is really nice, communicative, and understanding. Plus, the repairs are always done well and they don't rip you off cost wise. I always reccomend Bain's to friends or anybody that asks who I go to. I will always continue to go here as long as I live close enough!

Bain Service review - Air Conditioning Repair In May 2026, I took my 2016 Chevy Silverado to Bain for the annual inspection. At the time, my AC was not working and asked that they look at it. They did, reported the compressor was not working, and charged me $82.00 +/- for the time diagnosing the problem. Jim gave me 2 quotes for the replacement and labor: one for a new compressor of around $1,175.00; and one for a used compressor for around $684.00+. He said they usually never have problems with used parts. I opted for the used given that I am retired, don’t drive too much, and the age of the truck. So we scheduled an appointment the following week The next week comes and the morning of the appointment Jim calls and says there was a communication problem with the vendor and he doesn’t have the compressor. Can I wait a day and bring the truck the next day? I told him that I would since I am retired and I have the flexibility. I brought the truck in the next day. The team worked on it. I picked it up that night and was told that the AC was fixed. It was working when I left the shop. About five days later, the AC stopped working. I called them back and they said to bring the truck back in and I did. They said they had a bad used compressor. So they called the vendor and replaced the compressor again. I picked up the truck. The AC was working and took it home. About a week later, the AC stopped working again. I called Bain. They said OK bring it back. We’ll take a look at it. We stand by our work. I said great. I’ll bring it back in again. This is the third time. Jim himself worked on it. He said he went through the entire thing checking all the rings and all the seals and the compressor with black light, tested it and did all the things I guess you would do replacing a compressor. He drove it for 30 minutes and all was fine. He now also said he noticed a small pinhole in the condenser. He said that he never saw the pinhole when he first did the inspection so it must’ve happened since the time I first brought it in an early May and now in late June after three visits to them. Either way he thought he had fixed the problem and the small hole in the condenser is probably not the problem; yet he gave me a quote for another $400 plus in order to replace the condenser, generously discounting his labor ( for all my inconvenience). I said OK but I took the truck home hoping that finally I would have the problem resolved. Five days later the AC stopped working again. Now I don’t know the first thing about truck AC repair but I did spend a career in risk management and probability and operating my own businesses. So the probability that a pinhole appeared in the six weeks from when I first brought the truck in and the third replacement of the compressor ( approximately 6 weeks) is practically nonexistent. Moreover, if the problem is with the condenser, then they missed a pinhole at the first inspection and replaced a compressor with a used one or they created the pinhole since they were the only ones working on the truck during that six week period of time. Yet they now want me to replace a condenser at my expense (minus their generous discount) on labor when they misdiagnosed it or created the problem themselves. He asked me to the bring the truck back in so he could look at it again for the 5th time (including first diagnosis). I just cannot do it. To me, they have lost credibility. How do I know the condenser is even the problem now? What I do know is that I am out about $750.00 and my AC does not work. I was never offered a refund or free service until they corrected the problem. To me, that is not standing by your work. I’ll never use Bain again.

Yes I just want to say thanks today I needed an inspection sticker .I went to 5 places all where like we cant do that today. Had a friend tell me to go to Bains and sure enough they took good care of me plus where very polite .
